The Boxy Barn by Marie

This barn intrigued me from the first day I saw it, especially when the Three Sisters mountains were visible on the skyline behind it.  I finally was able to get a decent photo of it, and decided I wanted to try to do a watercolor.  First, the painting...

and the photo inspiration...

Color or Not? by Latane

I use Picmonkey to frame pictures some times but this time I decided I'd change my watercolor of Mason jars into a black and white. I love the look!  May have to try that again sometime. Go over to Eva and Kristen's Paint Party Friday for more artwork.

Making Frybread at San Xavier by Marie

I am not overly fond of how this watercolor turned out, but it is a venture into a different area of subject matter than I have done before... Maybe not such a bad first effort with this, and I am sure I will improve with time.  Joining in with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday.

Red, Red Poppies by Latane

It's time to join in the fun over at Paint Party Friday

After a week or so absence from the paints, I finally sat down today and pulled them all out to see if I could get inspired. I finally decided to do poppies. I've never done poppies before so it's a decent first try. At least I had fun doing it.

Have a great week.

Grandson at the Beach by Marie

This watercolor was my first attempt to paint a person...also to paint the ocean, and I was pleased with the way it turned out.  This is of my Grandson six and a half years ago at the beach after a trip to Disneyland.  You can see his joy at being in the Pacific for the first time. I used a photo of the trip to give me my subject:

The Great Blue Heron by Latane

No painting this week. I've been under the weather but hopefully soon I can get started again. This is the last watercolor I did. I love watching for the Great Blue Heron to come to the pond. He creeps along the shoreline watching for fish for his dinner.

I enjoy looking at all the art that is displayed on Paint Party Friday You ought to check them out.

The Country Buck by Marie

This wonderful mule deer buck on the side of the road had a strand of grass hanging from his mouth like a country farmer chewing a straw! :-)   I wanted to do an oil painting of him, and will show you the photo I had for the painting inspiration:  (Joining in with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday)

Galway Bay by Latane

Once more....

another Paint Party Friday...

and here is my watercolor ....

There is a story behind this landscape. My daughter Marie (who is co-owner of this blog) and I were on a trip to Ireland. We were staying at a B&B just up the street from Galway Bay. Even though it was cloudy, chilly, the wind blowing we walked down to watch the wind ruffle the water and the cloud part just enough so that we saw the sunset over Galway Bay. Perfect moment.

My Grandpa's Barn by Latane

I was looking at Pinterest and ran across a painting of a barn that reminded me of my Granddaddy's barn. The one I played in and around when I was a child. I loved the memories it all brought back so I decided I would paint a watercolor of the barn of my childhood. Hope you enjoy.

Flicker in the Snow by Marie

This watercolor was inspired by a photo of a flicker on our deck railing when there was no snow, but I chose to add the greenery and snow to the painting to give it a different feel.  It's watercolor on paper.  This painting has been chosen by a friend who requested I give her one of my bird paintings.  I will have it matted before I send it to her.  Joining in with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday.
