Horse Barn in The Canyon by Marie

Here is my latest oil painting of a horse barn next door to my friend's house in the canyon at Crooked River Ranch where I live in Oregon.  The orange-leaved tree in the scene inspired me to paint what I was seeing as I left the friend's house one day in early October.  Joining in with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday.

Wildflowers by the Oregon Trail

On a trip back from Portland/Vancouver where my husband sometimes has to go to the V.A. we stopped at an historic marker and learned that part of the Oregon Trail crossed where we were traveling.  These beautiful wildflowers were growing by the trail and I photographed them and then painted them in oil.  Joining again today with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday:

The Mountains by Latane

While I was at my son's house in Alabama for a nice long visit, I painted this watercolor. I've been told I do landscapes the best... but I do enjoy doing birds and flowers, too. Hope your week was filled with fun, happiness and art. Linking with Paint Party Friday

Drumroll....here it is, the oil painting of the ospreys!  I had planned to take it to sell when I go to the Farmer's and Artisan's Market tomorrow, but have decided I can't part with it. :-) Joining in with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday:

An older work

Working on an oil painting of an osprey so I decided since I am not done to  post this older piece, one of my ceramic tiles from years ago.  This is a four-tile piece with pomegranates, gingko leaves and berries I gave to a dear friend...… Also, below is the matted watercolor of the little grey bird I shared two weeks ago, ready to give away... Sharing today with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday.

Red Barn by Latane

I had this visit planned with my son in Alabama for a few weeks and what timing is this!!! I escaped Hurricane Florence. It's nice and dry here and hot and typical south. I'll take that any day over what the people on the east coast are facing.

I haven't done any art since my arrival last Monday afternoon. My son is on vacation and we've just been laid back, taking life easy. I did bring my art supplies with me, though, and will get back to it very soon.

This one is one from my archives....

I think I have posted it before but my laptop does not have many pictures of my artwork on it... so I am desperate!!

A Little Sparrow by Latane

I love sparrows. There are so many different varieties and I can not keep up with which is which but I enjoy them nonetheless. Hope you enjoy this little fellow. Linking with Paint Party Friday

Smith Rock watercolor

I painted this small watercolor (6x6) for the "gift basket" at the Farmer's and Artisan's Market.  The winner will get something from every vendor.  Smith Rock is a tourist attraction for hikers and climbers here in Terrebonne.

Sunset at the Beach by Latane

I had not painted in several weeks... just first one thing and then another... but I sat down the other day and did this watercolor of 'Sunset at the Beach'. Linking with Paint Party Friday

please remember that there are usually two of us on Paint and Palette who submit two separate posts on Friday. Check to make sure you see both. Thanks.

Little Grey Bird by Marie

I did not go to the Market to sell things this last time (it meets twice a month) but will next time.  On the day I went when I had the wonderful sale of my oil of the cougar and cubs, a fellow vendor gave me a gift.  She had made coasters out of some of her photographs and gave me one of a small grey bird. "Here," she said, "Maybe this will give you some inspiration."  I decided to paint a picture of the bird and give it to her.  Here is the watercolor I did.  I'll have it matted and give it to her...will re-photograph it after the matting.  Joining in with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday.

A finch by Latane

If I don't get busy painting I am going to run out of something to post about!! Lazy I guess.

Here is an older watercolor. A finch I saw sitting on a branch. I love doing birds. Linking with Paint Party Friday. Thanks, girls, for having a great place for all of us to display our work.

A Sale! And 2 more postcards

The day at the Farmer's and Artisan's Market had lots of "lookers" and no buyers until an hour before closing when a woman suddenly declared she had to have my largest oil painting for her husband.  I was thrilled to make this first sale:

Though I didn't sell any of the postcards, I was encouraged to make two more this week, and plan to work on both watercolors and an oil in the coming weeks ahead.  Sharing with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday.  The two newest cards:

Another Piece From the Past

Haven't painted any this week, so I share a ceramic pig I made for our grandson in my ceramic and tile glazing days years ago.  I based the pig on a character in a book that had been one of his mother's favorites as a child and was later one of his favorites as well.  Joining Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday:

Glass Bottles

A pastel of glass bottles and an apple, I think it is. Fun to do...

From My Past

Years ago I took a break from painting to work on doing some creative ceramics...mostly glazing my own tiles.  This is a hummingbird tile I did during that period.  I am sharing it today because since I had surgery just six days ago, I have not yet been "up" to getting any painting done.  I'm sure I will have something next week for Paint Party Friday with Eva and Kristin!   Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.  All went well!

A Pretty Pink Dahlia

How did everyone (in the U.S.) celebrate Independence Day? Hope you had lots of fun, food and fellowship.

Today I have a watercolor done from a picture taken of a dahlia in my daughter's flower garden. I hope you enjoy it.

It's Paint Party Friday

Please keep Marie, who is my daughter and Paint Party blog partner in your prayers as she had some surgery yesterday. Thanks.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

My entry today for Paint Party Friday is a watercolor of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina.

It is the tallest lighthouse in the U. S. In 1999 erosion over the years had caused the lighthouse to be just 15 ft from the water's edge and so was moved to a higher location. It's located in Buxton, North Carolina on the Outer Banks and is a big tourist attraction.

Post Card Art by Marie

Joining Paint Party Friday with two small watercolors:

Two weeks ago I had a table set up at the Farmers and Artisans Market on Crooked River Ranch to see if I could sell some of my paintings.  But, no takers.  Sometimes it takes a while to find your possible market.  In the meantime, I thought I might be able to sell something smaller and less expensive.  Our area attracts visitors, and we have many sites of interest to them.  I did two post cards, roughly 4X6" (which is very small), of watercolor paintings of two places nearby, and I plan to do quite a few more....

I plan to pre-stamp them so the buyer won't have to make a trip to the post office, they can just drop them in a mailbox.  I will sell them for $3.50 apiece.
This scene is Deschutes River Canyon on Crooked River Ranch, Oregon.  It is actually behind my property and down a steep hill!

This one shows The Three Sisters mountains, with a treeline in the foreground.

Here's what my table looked like...

I'm Back!

I don't think this is a new share...I did this painting many years ago and I think I posted it early in my participation with Paint Party Friday, but in case you missed it, here is an oil of a great blue heron at sunset on the James River (Virginia).....I haven't been painting in almost two months but plan to get at it again this week, so I will have a post of new work next Friday!

Mr. Bunny Hop by Latane

A charcoal and graphite sketch I did some time back. I do love to sketch but for some reason never drag out the materials to do it. Maybe I need to rethink that.

Little Garden Gate by Latane

There is nothing like a gate to make you want to open it, walk through and discover what's on the other side. I painted this from an image I found on the internet. And, yes, I know you should not copy other peoples work!! But, I couldn't resist and I think this is my favorite watercolor that I have done.

Two by Latane

These two are not new, just stuck in my archives hoping to get out... and so here they are.

This one is a pastel I did a couple years ago of a tree by a stream. I'm not fond of pastels but that was all the art supplies I had at the time.

And, this one is a mocking bird in watercolor. I think the tree leaves should be reworked, don't you? They just don't seem to fit.  But, I'm okay with the mocking bird. Yep, come to think of it... I am going to rework that tree branch and leaves.

Have a super weekend. Joining Paint Party Friday

Pink Petunias by Latane

The petunias are in full bloom now. And, I just love the pink ones that hang over the planter. These were outside my kitchen window in a window box. So, naturally I had to paint them!! Joining with Paint Party Friday

Finches by Latane

For Paint Party Friday I wanted to share this watercolor with you.  I had made a picture of these two finches sitting on a tree branch outside my daughter's kitchen window. It just kept calling me to paint it so I did.

Hollyhocks by a Fence by Latane

I haven't been on Michael's Scribble Picnic for awhile now. My subjects did not match his weekly theme but I will be on there whenever I can match.

This one isn't exactly what Michael asked for. He asked for a picket fence. Would this qualify? It may be stretching it a bit!

However, here it is....
